Welcome to Holidailies, where certain members of the journal community make a pledge to update our journals on a daily basis as a special Christmas gift to you, our loyal readers. Not sure if I will attempt to update on the weekends. Likely not. So I have this Pac Man frog named Arvid. I may have mentioned him before. I've had Arvid for a little over two years, and he's now about 3 inches across. It's winter time and he's stopped eating.
I'm worried again this year that he's not eating. I know he did this last year and was fine, but I always worry. I expect it's just too cool these days. Anyway, I went to the pet store to ask some questions and see if there is anything I can do to improve his condition. Armed with contradictory book knowledge and web lore, I went up to ask. "Excuse me, do you know anything about Pac Man frogs?" "Um," said the pet store chippie. "I know some stuff." "Well, he hasn't been eating. It's been about a month or so since he ate. He did this last winter for a couple months too, but was fine. Is this normal?" "Well, if he did it before, I'd think this was just his thing. You know, the thing he does." "... Right. Well, I was wondering, one book that I read suggests that mice are not the best thing to feed him because they are high on fat. What do you think?" "I'm not sure. Maybe." "Do you have anything else I could feed him? Nightcrawlers or something?" "No, all we have is mice." So, no help there. I bought a couple more mice to tempt him with and went home. He wasn't interested. He's been active, moving from his water dish to the moss and back, he seems alert, and he certainly isn't gaunt, fat little bugger that he is. I guess he's fine. When he's hungry, he leaps at anything that moves, so he must not be hungry. Maybe he's on a diet. In Ancient Times...
