Entry #169
A few brief notes on a hot Monday night.
I moved into my new office today.
I tell you, I'm going to have to work hard to not let this go to my head. There is a huge feeling of power when you can sit behind a desk and look out your door at all your coworkers in the bullpen. It's a complete illusion, of course, as I'm still pretty low on the totem pole, but it's hard to resist.
I'm sure it'll be hard for everyone else too. If someone wants to talk to me, they have to come into my office to do so. So far, everyone who has come in has apologized for bothering me. Heh.
I'm treading carefully though. I'm resisting the urge to call out my door for someone to come to my desk. If I need something, I go to them to get it. I tell anyone who asks about the change that it's so my throat noises don't bother anyone, and it's not a promotion or anything.
Still, it's a bit heady.
My laptop went in for repair as well today.
The fan was on its last breath, and we had to send it away to be fixed before the motherboard melted. Our consultant found a replacement, but it's a clunky old job with not even half the screen resolution of my laptop. I can only display one side of our website at a time on the monitor. I feel like I'm using an old Apple II or something.
It should be for only two weeks of so. I hope it's less because I know it's going to be ferociously hard to get any work done.
Our baby piggies are all grown up.
We could tell it was time to say farewell to our sweeties. Daddy Jersey had decided they had annoyed him for long enough, and had started chasing them around the pen a bit. It's a normal reaction would happen more and more as they got older, so it was time for them to go.
So I packed little Buster and Errol into a carrier and took them over to Lisa at the Pet Store. All her staff came over and cooed at the sweet babies and gave them cuddles. They got their own pen all to themselves, and some little girls were ogling them when I left.
At least I know that with Lisa running the place, she's not going to let them out of the store unless she's certain they're going to a good home.
I'm still a little glum. Well, I still have the rest of the menagerie to keep me smiling.
One Year Ago Today:
I was still on hiatus, but in 1497, John Cabot claimed eastern Canada for England.
