I'm glad I didn't post
on April Fool's day.
I had had the temptation
to write a whole 'I Quit' gag and post it in this space, but after
seeing the sheer number of variants on the same thing, I'm darn
glad I avoided the whole mess.
I
got fooled though. That smarmy bastard Wil
Wheaton had me thinking he was going to have a recurring
role on Enterprise. I should have known it wasn't so, but the little
giggling fan boy inside me is ever so gullible.
So. No April Fool's prank
here. Unless you call not posting for over a week and a half a prank.
Then I guess I got you,
didn't I?
Damn, I'm clever.
With my supervisor gone,
things are very, very busy at The Sporting Goods Company. Information
has not yet been divulged as to the status of the search for her
replacement.
My proposal
to my boss on how I would best fill the gaps in our department went
well. He even indicated that had had certain discussions along that
line already.
A lot of it depends on
the quality of applicant they get in. My supervisor's unique niche
will not be easily filled, and, after looking over the posted job
requirements, I don't predict a large number of applicants.
I hope, I hope.
I made a work 'faux pas'
last week, which has left me in an internal pickle.
Last Thursday was a mess.
The first content 'push' since my supervisor left, and we were all
scrambling to get everything done.
Plus we had to do some
intensive site testing (our providers are physically moving their
servers across town, and our IT
ninjas are concerned about problems resulting from this).
Plus our mockup server collapsed for half the day. Plus I had to
get Barry to re-write one article three times. Plus Jenny didn't
get me the graphics I needed until very late in the day.
I was a little over-stressed.
After discovering yet another resurgence of a site error I knew
had been fixed, I sent off a somewhat perturbed email to the IT
ninjas asking 'What the heck is going on with the site?"
While Barry didn't think
the email was very harsh (after reading it over my shoulder), I
must have struck a nerve, because next thing I knew, the main support
ninja was behind closed doors with my boss. I don't know
if it was about me, but I don't know it wasn't.
I sent off an apology email
(just in case - I really don't like to hurt people's feelings, and
our Ninjas do a great job), and nothing has been said about it since
then. I just wonder if I've run into some sort of corporate minefield.
It takes a long time to learn how management reacts to stuff like
this. Some will blow it off as an exceeding minor incident, but
others will take it a call for an anger management seminar.
Ugh. Me so very, very tired
today. Me have no idea if writing coherent sentences. Must rely
on grammar checker for accuracy. Hope it smart and understand bad
sentence.
On
Survivor: Well,
I picked last week's Survivor dead on. Pity I didn't post my picks
in advance, as I have no real proof to show you. I think Lisa and
I would have both rather seen Kathy take the walk than Gina, but
I knew it wouldn't happen. Pascal and Neleh are both sheep, and
Kathy's been with them longer.
But as Lisa says, "Maybe
now Gina and Hunter will meet up outside the game, and 'get together'!
They'd make a cute couple."
Mom
Rating: 2 out of 5. Long, rambling, semi-coherant. Mom knows
it's not my best work.
