For the various people
who've asked: No, my tooth isn't getting any better. The best I
can get out of any pain medication is about 4-6 hours, which means
I wake up every morning between 2 and 4, and then have to wait a
half hour for the new set of meds to start working.
Lisa is checking with her
health care provider to find out if A) we'll be covered any time
soon, and B) if we are, is there going to be a waiting period before
we can use the dental portion of the coverage. Because if we're
not going to be covered right quick, I'm going to have to shell
out of pocket for this. I can't go on chomping on Tylenol and Advil
all day.
Good news! Lisa has been
accepted to the Docent
program at the zoo! I'm not sure how common usage the term 'docent'
is, so for those of you who don't know, it refers to the specially
trained volunteers at the zoo who teach classes, work with animals,
et cetera. It's a great program, and Lisa is really excited about
it. It will involved 12 Sundays of training before she can get started,
but it'll be something to take away from her work-related frustration.
Woke
up with a scratchy throat today. I'm taking Echinacea and Vitamin
C, and am hoping they'll do the trick. Christie at work was down
for all of last week with a cold, and I'm thinking I might have
caught it. Serves me right for catching a ride with her yesterday
I guess.
I cannot afford to get
sick, because I sure don't get paid for sick leave. I think I mentioned
I worked 10-hour days for a week to make up for the last sick day
I had... I don't want to do THAT again.
What else... what else...
Lisa's folks moved into a much smaller apartment, so they unloaded
some stuff on us. We got a new deep freeze (Not new exactly,
given that it's older than Lisa is, but it works great and was free,
so no complaining.) and a bookshelf. Ah, more space for books. We
can't seem to get enough bookshelves. Maybe now we won't have any
stacks of novels waiting for a feline paw to scatter them anymore.
Spent a couple hours at
work researching new Apple computers for my boss. It's a good sign,
I guess, because he wants to get me a desktop unit to replace the
Titanium G4 laptop I've been using. This is good because if they
are willing on shelling out a couple thousand for a new computer,
they want to keep me around for a while.
On the other hand, I LIKE
having a laptop for my exclusive use. Where do you think I've been
doing all my writing? Going to my PC at home means leaving the television...
Still, it looks like I'll
get one of those new iMacs.
Cool.
Watched 'O'
over at Connie's last night. Well, not really watched since none
of us could stop jabbering long enough to hear what the people on
screen were talking about. There was a pause in the talking during
the scene where Mekhi
Phifer gets it on with Julia
Stiles, and for the big strangle-Desdemona, shoot-everyone-else
scene at the end.
Don't think we missed that
much. The lot of us were pretty darn familiar with Othello
anyway, so it wasn't a big mental leap to glance over occasionally
and instantly understand what was going on.
A big 'Woo Hoo' to our
Canadian hockey teams for their rocking performance at the Olympics.
I gotta say that our ladies played some damn tight matches, and
really outshone the guys. Seriously. I watched most of both gold
medal games, and the girls were on fire. The guys were good, but
the women kicked some American ass.
On
TV: Survivor
starts Thursday. 16 more no-goodniks stuck on an island without
food, water, or shelter. Another few months of backstabbing, bizarre
antics, and stupid games! Can't wait!
Good thing too, because
I'm running out of things to jabber about here.
Mom
Rating: 3 out of 5. It's mostly good news, but Mom thinks
I should focus more. And get my teeth fixed.
