Toothaches and heartaches

I've been a bit of a zombie for the last few days.

First off, Lisa has been away at a training conference in Winnipeg. She left Monday night, and I'll be picking her up after work tonight. Three full days without my sweetie. Sigh.

Besides that, my broken filling has decided that it deserves all my attention. For the last couple weeks, I've been getting the occasional pang, easily mediated with a couple Tylenol. But for the last three days it has been non-stop, even being bad enough to wake me up nightly when the medication wears off.

Of course we can't possibly afford to get it fixed yet. Lisa's health coverage STILL hasn't come through, and getting this fixed will take a mint I'm certain. The nature of the pain makes me suspect a root canal will be order. Trust me on this - I've had two already, so I know what they are like.

The result of this crap is that I've been moping around since Monday. I don't do alone very well.

Work, on the other hand, is going excellent. The Sporting Goods Company gave me a new three-month contract today, so I'm set until the end of May at the least. As well, they let me know that they will extend it if they can, and work to get me on full-time in the meantime. Feels good to be wanted.

My work time ratio is also being shifted, and I'll now be spending four days a week on the content of the e-commerce site, and only one day on the investment site.

Which is perfect, as I put up the French translation yesterday, finishing up the last four months of work. Anyone really interested in seeing it, write me an email. I'm not putting any links or such in here (for job security reasons, of course).

Sorry this is short, and that I'm not much with the funny today. I'll be better once my baby is safely home.

Oh, one thing I did want to rant on a bit. A lot of online journallers and bloggers have recently been subject to nasty and uncalled for attacks via email or comment forms. For some reason, people are getting really pissy out there. These are not your ordinary flame wars, but deeply personal attacks and insults. People are really getting hurt.

I've never got a piece of hate mail from anything I've written here. I'd like to think this is because I'm such a marvelous writer, but I'm sure it's because there's only a dozen of you reading this anyway. Heh.

Still, if I do ever reach any sort of success, I'm sure it will happen. As such, I therefore resolve not to let the stupidity of other people get to me. Surly emails will only be answered if I think there is a chance to resolve the issue. I reserve the right to paraphrase the worst offenders here for public ridicule. I will let you all know if and when it does get to me, so you can all send me the love, and soothe my poor hurt ego. And I will never quit writing just because some jerk needs to piss all over my happy day.

And to those of you who have been laying the hurt on some of my favorite writers, there's a right hearty 'Fuck you' from me to you. Okay?

One Year Ago Today: Little cake donuts - where I talk about 'cocaine katies', and post a most-marvelous picture of a two-headed parrot. I love that picture.

Mom Rating: 1 out of 5. Mom wishes I had better teeth, but it's my own damn fault for not brushing as a child. She also thinks people should be nicer to one another.
