Serious weirdness last
night.
Dan and Colleen, two gaming
friends of ours, invited us over for dinner. Grand idea. We hadn't
spent much time getting to know fellow players outside the game,
and the two of them seemed pretty cool.
Thing is, when Colleen
gave me their address, it kinda struck a chord in my mind. A little
digging for architectural details, and a quick call to my old roommate
Joel afterwards confirmed it: They are living in the same apartment
I shared with Ronja and Joel when I moved away from home some 6-7
years ago.
With the strains of the
Barenaked Ladies' 'Old Apartment' running through my brain, I got
to see my first pad with someone else's furniture in it.
But, as Colleen said, at
least I didn't have to be shown where the bathroom was.
Thankfully, Colleen and
Dan are perfect hosts, and made us feel right at home. Colleen has
this huge domestic streak that manifests itself in a need to cook
large amounts of delicious food. Baked chicken and honey-glazed
carrots and baked potatoes and broccoli with cheese sauce with lemon
meringue pie for dessert. Mmmm...
This is the last day of
my three-day schedule. Next week I do four days, and then right
into full-time the week after. It's serving as a kind of ramp-up
into getting fully back to work. Instead of having to give up my
habit of sleeping until 8:30 every morning cold turkey, I'm being
given three weeks to get used to my new 6:30 rising time.
One more nice thing about
working here: these guys take their holidays seriously. There has
been copious Halloween candy and snacking junk here since I arrived.
Just now, the e-commerce VP snuck me a piece of a baked cinnamon
pizza.
It's better than it sounds.
One Year ago: The
people that you meet - where I blather on about other journals
I read. With the exception of Diane and Pamie (neither of whom post
any more) it's pretty much the same as now. Oh, and I apologize
for only posting twice a week. Heh.
