Is it Wednesday already?
Now I understand the guilt all those other web journalists feel when they skimp on their readers. Here I was off having a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in B.C., and it's Wednesday and I haven't told any of you how it went!
Forgive me?
My folks own a chunk of property south of the town of Revelstoke, B.C. No phones. Car batteries provide what little power is there. The cabin is half-finished, but comes with propane-powered lights, stove, fridge, and heated shower. Not to mention a flush toilet.
And not a television or computer for hundreds of miles.
Heaven.
It usually takes about 24 hours for the world to bleed from my system and I can finally relax and enjoy the great outdoors. And I mean great. This chunk of lakeside mountain property is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Check out these pictures on my Mom's site for proof.
It was just me, Lisa, and my folks out there. Taking walks, skipping stones, following bear tracks along the shore...
Not kidding. We found the fresh tracks of a mother and what could be a one-year old cub along the shore one morning. Some elk and deer tracks as well. The wildlife around our property is quite forward. I haven't actually seen a bear in person yet, but my folks have, and their dog has treed at least one over the last couple years.
If you drive south from Revelstoke, take the Galina Bay ferry across the lake, and then follow a forestry trunk road for an hour or so, you'll be there.
Ask me sometime. I might take you along.
So we're watching Dark Angel last night, and the last set of commercials comes one. All of a sudden, bright, cheerful words flow out of the TV speakers singing, "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..."
No! No it's NOT!
It's only the first half of October, damn it! It's looking NOTHING like Christmas! It's looking a whole heck of a lot like Halloween, but not one bit like Christmas!
Going out to see the Arrogant Worms tonight. It's Ronja's birthday! See you!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Note: Watched last week's episode on tape. I happen to LIKE Scrappy Dawn. I think she'll be fun. They are already starting to allude to her mysterious background and junk though, so don't expect her to be here after Christmas.
