A long quickie

Hey everyone!

This'll just be a quickie. We're scrambling to get out of town for the Thanksgiving weekend, so I'm leaving work early, but didn't want to run off without writing something.

Saw 'Nurse Betty' on Wednesday. Every time we saw Miss Zellweger we kept saying, 'She's so CUTE! Totally nuts, but cute.' Go see it if you've got a free night.

Our favorite TV shows have begun to premiere, and although I don't like the look of the fresh crop very much, I've been pleasantly surprised by my old favorites.

ain't they the cutest? i'd vote for them.

The biggest one for Lisa and I was The West Wing. Okay, who else watched the premiere? Like, pretty much everyone. It's only the best show on TV. I love the damn thing, and I'm not even an American.

Great episode. The President wounded by an assassin's bullet, Josh in critical condition, flashbacks to the original election campaign... nice. Meaty.

One big-ass complaint. They wussed out on Mandy. Okay, we all know Moira Kelly was dropped from the show at the end of last season. It was a good thing. She's amazing, but her character simply wasn't useful or important in the least.

But since the season finale last year, we've been tempted for months by 'Who got shot? Did someone die?', and all speculation pointed to Mandy taking a bullet and dying.

Okay, so Josh took the bullet and lived. Fine. It was nice. Well handled, especially the flashbacks to Josh's dad's death during the original campaign. But Mandy was never mentioned. Not even once. She was in the finale, she dodged the bullets and fell to the ground, just like everyone else. It seems she fell right into an open plothole and disappeared from everyone's memory.

I understand they probably didn't wanted to pay her a 'special guest' fee to come and play dead for the whole episode. But for a show that has become the pride of NBC, and which has become famous for it's powerful, pull-no-punches writing, this was pretty damned weak.

We're still going to watch the show. We're just disillusioned.

Have a good Thanksgiving!

Turkey is good.

Mom Rating: 3 out of 5. Mom would like the show, but it's on so late.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Note: The fans are already calling the little sister 'Scrappy Dawn'. Isn't that funny? Just wait till she pulls the claws out and kills everyone. She'll get some respect THEN.

Yesterday was so long ago...

How was your weekend?

Take me home, big fella
