Stuff. And things.

The game went well. It'll be fun once we get into it.

I do wish that there was a better way for a party of new characters to meet up. It always seems to happen in one of three ways:

  1. They just happen to know each other already. The GM shrugs and says, 'Okay, you're all friends. Where do you want to go now?'
  2. They get into a fight together and end up having to save each other. This usually happens in a bar. A lot of innocent drunkards get knocked out.
  3. They are in a similar predicament. Usually, they all just got thrown in jail together, or they all got hired for something. Whee.

Now, there's nothing really wrong with all this. The whole point is to get the party together quickly, so they can get on to all the orc killing and treasure grubbing that comprises the majority of the campaign. I just wish there was a more entertaining way. Maybe the GM can just announce, 'Option 2!' and we all nod and get on with things.

It was Joel's birthday yesterday. Thank you Joel, for breaking the trail before the rest of us, so when someone asks how old I am, I can simply say, 'Younger than Joel'.

You big lug you.

The last few days have been a blur. Spent Saturday trying to offload all the MP3's on my computer so I can reinstall the bugger. Sunday was spent out at Spruce Meadows watching the pretty horses jump around. And, as I said, Monday night was Joel's birthday.

Note to the guys as Kaos Jazz Bistro: $12 is way too much to pay to see some studio musician I never heard of. I could get a good dinner at Victoria's for that. Which we did. So there.

One final quick note on the TV root-level domain name. If you head over to http://www.tv, you can register a TV domain for prices ranging from $50 to $100,000. That's per year, baby.

Isn't this crazy? The TV domain belongs to the tiny island nation of Tuvalu, who appears to want to use this resource as a source of income that doesn't involve fish or the mass harvesting of their trees. So they farm out the administration of these domains and reap the profits. Smart for them.

But who the hell would pay $100,000 a year (plus a 5% annual increase) for a domain name? What sort of value are you going to get out of repeatedly telling your customers, "No, no, no… not blahblah.com. It's blahblah.tv. No, not blahblah.tv.com…"

The whole .com thing has insinuated itself into our collective mindsets. It's now a proper noun for God's sake (as in, 'I started up my own dotcom!'). The revenue I'd lose from public confusion added to the whopping thousands for the domain in the first place adds up to a financial statement in the red, bub.

Not a good idea.

Hey! I like my TV domain. Well, no, actually...

Mom Rating: 3 out of 5. Mom likes it when I stay on topic.
Big Brother note: Yeah sure, they're all gonna walk out of the house Wednesday night holding hands and singing, 'We Shall Overcome'. More like Eddie going, 'Whups! I forgot something. Go ahead without me. Heh heh.'

Talk about gaming and stuff.

Talk more about Big Brother.

Take me home, big fella
