August Ramblings

So Mom finally heard about the Mom ratings. Heh. Now I get to wait to see what her reaction is after she's read them all.

Was down at Shakespeare in the Park last night. A troupe from Cochrane was in town to do one night of 'Much Ado About Nothing', our favorite piece. Loved it, loved it loved it.

The park is the perfect setting for Shakespeare. The setting sun as a spotlight, crowds of people on blankets eating and drinking and having a great old time. Ronja and Joel joined as, and brought a nice picnic of fresh cooked sausage, watermelon, carrots, cucumber, feta cheese, pickles... we provided the grapes, chips and the drinks. I felt very medieval. Except for the chips, of course.

Much Ado About Nothing is Shakespeare's great comedic soap opera. No fighting, no death, just people falling in love while other people try to trick them out of love. A light-hearted romp, as the movie critics would say.

You definitely have to hear the words to understand what's going on though, as per all of Shakespeare's works, so I pity the people who were stuck on the outskirts of the crowd. Lisa had got there early enough to stake a claim in the dead center, so we got the choice position.

A nice way to end the day, especially after such a mess of a day. Our big project was finally unveiled -- a big summer online contest where we are giving away a Toyota Tacoma and $15,000 worth of other stuff. Of course, we can't just have a simple draw. No, we have to get everyone involved. So we set up a game where everyone signs up for our email newsletter and then has to follow a link in the newsletter for a daily ballot in the game.

The more you read the newsletter and tour our site, the more chances you get to win. Good for us, as that generates hits on our site, allows us to showcase places on the site people may not be aware of, and generally show ourselves off.

The downside is that sort of thing is a lot of work. Our wunderkind programmer, Ian, set up the automated system for this so we don't have to do the changes at midnight every night, but we still have to set everything up at some point. Which is what I did yesterday. Plus changes to the contest pages, plus alter new logos, plus help explain the system to others... I was ready for a light-hearted romp by the end of the day.

Go do some work or something...

Mom Rating: 4. I think Mom likes Shakespeare. She does like it when I get out. And she likes contests.
Big Brother note: Believe it or not, I've had too much of a life to pay attention to this show. Eek!
Survivor! note: My guess for tomorrow? Richard!

You talked alot yesterday...

I'm hungry. Talk about food.

Take me home, big fella
