Just Friends

How I Met Your Mother

Wherein Ted throws three parties in a row to try to hook up with Robin 'casually' and they end up determined to 'just be friends'. Inevitable, since we know she's not the woman he falls in love with and marries. Kudos for getting it out of the way.

We like this show, but it's officially dropping to 'like it, watch it when we can' status.

We also feel that "Have you met (name)?" is the best wingman trick ever.

Also, the character Barney has a blog on the CBS website. It's funny. Venn diagram of Lame Parties. Heh.

How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother

We watched this one specifically because we wanted to see WIllow and Doogie's new show. The set up is it's a dad some twenty-five years down the line telling his kids the story of how he met their mom, with the episodes all being flashbacks to the present.

Pretty standard sit-com formula, with 'Guy Who Wants To Settle Down', 'Guy Who Wants Never To Settle Down', 'Newly Engaged Couple' and 'Love Interest' plus sundry random sit com walk-ons.

There were some moments of comedic brilliance, some chuckle-worthy moments, and the weird realization that 'Love Interest' is not the Mom referred to in the show title, but an 'Aunt'. Mom's sister? Friend the kids call Aunt? We don't know. A small mystery, but a fun one.

We might watch it again, but this is a 'only if nothing better is on' kind of show.
