| I know, I know, I missed deadline last week. And unfortunately, there isn't any good reason, other than that nothing has been going on. Well, stuff has been happening, but nothing, you know, exciting. We replaced the radiator in the car, Dad and I, two weeks ago. Took about five hours of a Thursday morning (and I had to leave to get to work before it was quite finished) and we left a horrendous gouge in what we think is the air conditioning condenser. Thankfully (I guess) we haven't had the air conditioning charged since we bought the car, so it wasn't like we were using it anyway. We also learned that Ford has an odd and disturbing love of spring clamps, and uses them for every damn hose connection in the engine block. And every stupid one is turned around to where you can't get at it with a pair of pliers. But see, none of that is terribly engrossing. Last week I tried to write a 'things I learned while replacing my radiator' post and it came to:
Last night we pulled a suburban version of the motor pool scam. As some of you may know, our friends Tim and Janet have finalized their divorce and plan on moving into their new, separate homes this weekend. Neither one needs to take their fridge or washer with them (Janet is taking the dryer), so we did a swap last night. Their fridge and washer are newer and better than the ones we inherited with the house, and the investment company that bought their house could care less what they leave behind. So Dad dropped by, and we shlepped our appliances over to their house, swapped 'em and shlepped theirs back home. Of course last night was barely five degrees and raining, so it was pretty miserable. And the fridge door opened the wrong way for our kitchen, so Lisa and I spent an hour and half switching it around (half that time was just to figure out why the damn freezer door wouldn't close tight). Again, nothing that makes for gripping drama. A post about that alone might amount to:
We've both been addicted to playing Jade Empire on the Xbox. Lisa is taking full advantage of her off time to cruise past whatever progress I've made (grumble grumble). We're off to a wedding this weekend, some old friends we're delighted to see finally get hitched. I tell you, this is the first post-our-wedding wedding we've been invited to, and it feels different. I'm, like, a wedding veteran or something. I guess what I'm trying to say is that life is going on, much as it always does. We're alive, we're happy most of the time and successfully working through the other times to get back to happy. So how are you? |
