Pardon?

We're going to be looking after a dog for three weeks. An acquaintance of Lisa's is going out of town for three weeks and needs someone to look after her Shih Tzu while she's gone.

I was originally against the plan, and I'm only slowly coming around to full acquiescence, but I guess it makes sense.

We want a dog. We're thinking of getting one once spring or summer rolls around. But we need to know if a dog will really fit into our lives.

Will the cats adjust? Will the Tiny Dinosaur? Will we be able to handle the daily walkies? The backyard mess? The full responsibility?

This dog likes cats, doesn't chew on cables or shoes, comes when it is called, and loves just to sit and cuddle. And three weeks after she arrives, she'll be gone.

A dry run, if you will. Canine/Human Co-Habitation Experiment #1. Are we ready for a dog?

Her name is 'Slate'. An awful name. I'm determined to have her answering to 'Princess Tiffany' by the time her family comes to get her.
